Biddeford history more accessible than ever (Maine)
Biddeford history is more accessible than ever thanks to the McArthur Public Library’s project with Advantage to digitize and provide online access to all of the Biddeford newspapers available at the library.
This spring the library sent a first batch of the Biddeford Weekly Journal (1880-1930) to Advantage to digitize and host at biddeford.advantage-preservation.com.
Renée DesRoberts, special collections librarian at McArthur Library in Biddeford stated that the library is “dedicated to preserving and providing access to these newspapers, which we can all agree are priceless documentaries of Biddeford and her people and well worth the time and effort.”
The long-term project will continue this fall as Advantage will receive additional newspapers to be filmed, digitized and added to the online community history archive.
To read more from Renée DesRoberts on the Advantage project you can find an article editorial online at at the Biddeford Courier. For any questions on the project contact account manager Grant K.
