“The Ancestor Hunt has been tracking Advantage Archives Community History Archive installations at libraries and other institutions since 2017. We have been publishing links to these Archives for our readers since there were just a couple hundred institutions 7 years ago. Our interest has always been in newspapers, a favorite topic at The Ancestor Hunt.

Advantage has always been very cooperative with us and we know it is dedicated to assisting local libraries especially, to digitize newspapers and other historical documents. Our mutual goals are the same – to assist library patrons, researchers, and local communities.

We celebrate with Advantage a major milestone – over 120 million pages of historical documents digitized and searchable and available to researchers for free everywhere. We honor the 1,000 libraries and other institutions that take on the challenge of funding these projects in service to their patrons and communities.”

The Formation of Advantage Archives

Advantage Archives was founded with a clear mission: to preserve and make accessible the rich history captured in newspapers. Our journey began with a small but passionate team committed to using the latest technology to digitize and protect historical documents. From those early days, we have grown into a leading provider of archival solutions, helping communities safeguard their heritage.

Our Vision for the Future

Our vision is rooted in the belief that history should be accessible to everyone. As we continue to work with our partners to add additional content, we remain committed to providing free access to these invaluable resources. We envision a world where anyone, anywhere, can explore the past, uncover stories, and gain insights that inform the present and future.

We are excited about the journey ahead and look forward to reaching even greater heights with the continued support of our partners. Thank you for being a part of this incredible adventure. Together, we are preserving history, one image at a time.

History is not just something that happened—it’s something happening right now.

Access to historical records has never mattered more. Libraries, archives, and educators are on the front lines, fighting against efforts to erase, rewrite, or whitewash history. What’s at stake isn’t just the past—it’s the ability of future generations to learn from it, understand it, and ensure the full truth is never lost. These materials in your archives do more than help us remember; they help us learn, question, and grow. They show us how oppression is justified, how movements for justice are built, and how power is wielded—sometimes for progress, sometimes for control. They remind us that history is not just something that happened—it is something that is happening right now.
